Four became three, became four again...

So I did it! I finished two collections in one weekend. It was not easy and they were not strictly written in one weekend. I did say finished in my defense...

I had planned a four book series originally but, as I was finishing and collating, editing and so forth on Turn Out to Inward, I found I was short on my page count. I had somewhere in the region of 30-40 pages and my others had averaged around the 60-70 page mark. I felt that releasing less would be cheating my readers somewhat so made an 'executive decision' and decided to combine material I had been saving for Book 4 into Turn out to Inward.

Then last week happened...

It seemed that the stories had been held up on their way and they arrived, looking flustered and apologetic, red-faced and in need of a rest. I accepted their muttered apologies and gave them a beer and sat down to begin my editing. So, these errant tales arrived in my head just in time to prevent Turn Out to Inward from becoming the end of Alexander series. They also allowed Whispers from Behind the Eyes to come into being. I would like to hear your reviews but I think that Whispers is actually the best of the series and a very strong ending also. Of course I am biased about my late arriving sons.

The series, though, became somewhat more complex, convoluted and interconnected than I had been planning. The Trinity and Alexander storylines were never meant to be crossed over; they were supposed to be seperate worlds really. Now they are part of the same universe and mythology somehow; perhaps they liked each other and decided to get together?

Esssentially the character of Sham was an off-the-shelf mentor/wizard/magician/guide/old guardian/mysterious elder/teacher character who I'd personalised based loosely on a couple of Indian friends of mine. One, the real Sham was aged and altered in personality a bit but essentially that was it. He decided, seemingly by himself, to become this shadowy character with a lot of secrets and someone no-one was very sure of any more...just whose side is he on? Not mine clearly the sneaky old snake!

Anyway; Turn Out to Inward and Whispers from Behind the Eyes are available in eBook format now on Amazon and the paperbacks are coming soon!
